British dance-pop upstart Rose Gray debuted with Louder, Please yet another rehash of the stereotypes of Madonna (Angel of Satisfaction) and Kylie Minogue (Tectonic, Just Two, which interpolates I’m Blue), which duo Magdalena Bay had already done less than a year ago with more taste. However, there is also a contemporary imitation of erotic industrial pop with pitched vocals and whispers on Damn (which sounds like the late producer-songwriter, Sophie) and Hackney Wick, atmospheric, garage-influenced spoken word, courtesy of producer, Pat Alvarez. The euphoric and relatively catchy single Free with a euphoric beat and booming dubstep chorus is once again, more a success of the producer than the singer, as is the eclectic and dissonant synth-work that break up the monotony on Switch (Both from Dan Grech).
