Debut album Addison by Tiktok creator Addison Rae is characterised by sleek production courtesy of Elvira Anderfjard who worked on the Taylor Swift Taylor’s Version remixes and a breathy vocal (a la Lana Del Rey), emblematic of the nonsensical but catchy hit single Diet Pepsi. There is at least something to the production skill of Elvira who assembles the spacey almost dubstep-sque techno motif of High Fashion and the propulsive and muted beat of New York.
The peppy technopop of Fame is A Gun evoking Britney Spears is the perfect mix of catchy and forgettable. Money Is Everything tries to add some angst, a la Olivia Rodrigo. Addison sounds more comfortable on the subtle Lana-esque tracks like In The Rain and Times Like These. However, the lyrics and melodies could not be more trivial. The more energetic hip-hop-tinged, Headphones On is perhaps the song with the best combination of production and performance.
